First Game Jam - Weekly Game Jam #163
I started this project on Sunday August 23rd as a way to feel like i finished something. I've been working on a long term indie project and need a break. Food Stand Tycoon was a fun way to accomplish that.
Things I Learned
I wasn't very familiar with Unity's UI system in terms of connecting data and the best methods to do so. As most of my game is made of UI, this was a great way to jump in head first. I found that the UI system is kind of a pain to get working at different resolutions though I don't have ideas for better methods.
I had never used itch.io as a platform previously so getting a build compiled and uploaded as something I was unsure about, it turned out pretty simple, though it is a thing I would like to expore more.
What Went Wrong
Not a whole lot actually, I had a power outage in my neighborhood for some hours when my friend had time to work on the project and resulted in him being unable to pull files off my server.
Take Away
Doing a game jam really helped me feel secure in my abilities and assure myself that I can still think on my feet and put pen to paper as it were. I will be doing another soon.
